Wounded Patriot on 4th of July

So, I (Matt) am often told I am too verbose in my electronic correspondence and , so I'll try to give the shortest version possible of the story in phrases below:
- Neighborhood 4th of July Pie Contest
-> Matt making cherry pie from scratch (first time ever)
-> Matt needs pastry blender for crust
-> AM jogging trip to Target with dog and baby
-> Jogging home to make pie
-> Dog sees duck off the path (Matt doesn't see duck)
-> Dog darts suddenly, jerks leash powerfully
-> Dog takes  Matt down suddenly (Matt fine)
-> Matt takes jogging stroller and Sammy down suddenly with him
-> Sam (although strapped in) hits forehead on concrete and cries
-> 30 minutes later Sam isn’t able to support himself on his left leg when attempting to walk
-> Family E.R. visit at Children's Hospital
-> Sam's head appears fine [knock on wood], but slightly inconclusive tibia x-ray
-> Sam diagnosed and treated for a possible hairline "toddler fracture" of left tibia
-> Sam's lower left leg somewhat immobilized in splint
-> No biped playing for Sammy for a immediate future
-> Will follow-up next week with doctor visit, but hoping this is a short term thing
(Inconsequentially, I made the pie as he napped, and the pie entry was named "Child Sacrifice Cherry."  It did not win, but was quite respectable if I do say so myself.  Sammy liked it and is in good spirits, we'll see what the future brings for the leg.)

Oye, what a day!  Happy 4th of July!
(Bonus nugget:  Sam got special pleasure out of singing "Miss Mary Mac" this afternoon as the line about not coming down until the 4th of July really hit home today.)
